Wow, so it has been a very long time since I last posted anything on this seemingly deserted blog. So without further ado, I will dive into what has transpired since my last post. I have officially turned the proverbial page and begun an entirely new chapter of my life. I am now officially a civilian and a full time college student living in, the music capitol, Austin Texas. I have officially declared my major as philosophy. I am now sporting a nice red goatee and am doing my best to grow my hair out as fast as possible. In fact, just the other day someone told me that they never would have guessed that I am ex-military. I took that as a very high compliment! So to be perfectly honest about the past without dwelling, I will say a few quick words and then hastily move on. To be honest the military did not make my transition easy by any stretch of the imagination and it was not a pleasant experience by any definition. However, I am thrilled about being on the other side of that process! The freedoms are honestly exhilarating and scary simultaneously. I am suddenly surrounded by very intelligent inquisitive people that inspire me to think and question alongside them. It is as though I am breathing oxygen again after six years of suffocation. I now have an apartment downtown Austin and I am loving living in the thick of where all the action is. In many ways I feel like I have found my place and my home. The people here have been so gracious and it is almost as though they have been waiting for me to come and take my rightful place. On so many levels I have been accepted here as one who truly fits. This hasn’t been without any uneasiness or misgivings but overall it has been a relatively smooth transition back to civilian life. I now have a great support structure and am making meaningful relationships and connections every day. I will post more later but for now I really need to go to bed. Grace and Peace!
